For an authentic African taste look no further than Wiga Wagaa’s Uziza Curry Paste
This special recipe uses the Piper guineense – otherwise known as the West African Black pepper or “Uziza” (in Igbo) – to deliver a Great Taste “Simply delicious” accredited complement to meat, fish and any other dish.
Uziza is a remarkable culinary spice. Traditionally used to treat everything from cold and flu, to flatulence and rheumatism, this little number is also thought to have aphrodisiac properties – so choose your diners wisely!
This paste is super easy to use: for intensity of flavour, just pour into the pan. Then, get ready to be transported to the scenic beaches, vibrant markets and stunning skylines of West Africa’s coastal hotspots via its rich smoky, nutty flavour.
Our own Uziza is sourced from Nigeria, and blended with scotch bonnet and Naga chillis, Nchanwu (Nigerian basil), tumeric, cumin, paprika, coriander and crayfish. A truly West African ensemble.
Great Taste said: “Smoky, spiced and nutty on the nose. Fragrant with layers of spice and flavour then a punch of heat at the end. Rounded and full flavoured. Delicious.”
Our customers back this up:
“WoW! Tried your African Curry Paste tonight and my Nigerian bf loved it! I will certainly be ordering more! Aammmmaaaazing!!” (Norton)
“The curry was absolutely stunning! OMG I could taste the heart and soul that went into making this paste. I added coconut milk as it was too spicy and added the potatoes and onion from the farm. Even then the depth of flavour was so intense. We couldn’t stop eating it. I am going to place another order to take to our friends in London. They will absolutely love it. Where have I been?? How have I never come across Wiga Wagaa before.
The crayfish addition to this paste is a signature West African seasoning, though it means that this tasty little number is not for the vegetarians. If you are veggie or vegan though, then try checking out our Scotch bonnet chilli cooking paste – a two-star Great Taste award winner!
